A leader in transforming how technology empowers education, Bryan Alexander is an internationally known futurist, researcher, writer, speaker, consultant, and teacher.
Bryan serves as a consultant throughout higher education in the United States and abroad. As founder and main attraction at Bryan Alexander Consulting, LLC, he frequently speaks and publishes articles about technology and its important role in education – appearing in publications including The Atlantic Monthly and Inside Higher Ed.
Bryan earned his Doctorate degree in English language and literature at the University of Michigan in 1997, with a dissertation on doppelgangers in Romantic-era fiction and poetry. After completing his PhD, Bryan taught literature, writing, multimedia, and information technology studies at Centenary College of Louisiana where he pioneered multi-campus interdisciplinary classes, while organizing an information literacy initiative.
Bryan worked with the non-profit, National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education (NITLE), helping small colleges and universities best integrate digital technologies from 2002 to 2014. With NITLE he served as co-director of a regional education and technology center, director of emerging technologies, and as a senior fellow.
He has been featured as an industry expert in the Washington Post, MSNBC, US News and World Report, National Public Radio, the Chronicle of Higher Education, the National Association of College and University Business Officers, Pew Research, Campus Technology, and the Connected Learning Alliance.
He is currently writing Transforming the University in the Twenty-First Century: The Next Generation of Higher Education for Johns Hopkins University Press (forthcoming 2019). His most recent books are Gearing Up For Learning Beyond K-12 and The New Digital Storytelling (second edition).
