Keynote Speaker: Bryan Alexander

A leader in transforming how technology empowers education, Bryan Alexander is an internationally known futurist, researcher, writer, speaker, consultant, and teacher.

Bryan serves as a consultant throughout higher education in the United States and abroad.  As founder and main attraction at Bryan Alexander Consulting, LLC, he frequently speaks and publishes articles about technology and its important role in education – appearing in publications including The Atlantic Monthly and Inside Higher Ed.

Bryan earned his Doctorate degree in English language and literature at the University of Michigan in 1997, with a dissertation on doppelgangers in Romantic-era fiction and poetry. After completing his PhD, Bryan taught literature, writing, multimedia, and information technology studies at Centenary College of Louisiana where he pioneered multi-campus interdisciplinary classes, while organizing an information literacy initiative.

Bryan worked with the non-profit, National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education (NITLE),  helping small colleges and universities best integrate digital technologies from 2002 to 2014.  With NITLE he served as co-director of a regional education and technology center, director of emerging technologies, and as a senior fellow.

He has been featured as an industry expert in the Washington PostMSNBCUS News and World ReportNational Public Radiothe Chronicle of Higher Educationthe National Association of College and University Business OfficersPew ResearchCampus Technology, and the Connected Learning Alliance.

He is currently writing Transforming the University in the Twenty-First Century: The Next Generation of Higher Education for Johns Hopkins University Press (forthcoming 2019).  His most recent books are Gearing Up For Learning Beyond K-12 and The New Digital Storytelling (second edition).

Pricing

Registration

  • All registrations are done online. Please click here to register
  • Yes. After registering online, you’ll receive an email confirming your registration. Don’t forget to check your spam folder just in case!
  • All registration fees for the event are in U.S. Dollars. All major credit cards (Discover, MasterCard, or Visa) are accepted as well as Purchase Order.
  • Yes. If you register and pay but can’t attend, you can transfer your registration to a colleague from your organization until April 5. Please submit all transfer requests to peopleconnect@powerschool.com and include the first name, last name, title, organization, and email address of the new attendee. Any hotel reservations made will need to be canceled and/or changed directly with the hotel.
  • If you registered for PeopleConnect and are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as soon as possible. 
  • Cancellations received after 5:00pm Pacific Daylight Time on Friday, April 5th will be charged 50% of the registration fee. No refunds will be issued for no-shows. 
  • Hotel reservations should be canceled directly with the hotel.

General Event Questions

  • Business casual attire is appropriate for all functions at PeopleConnect.
  • The average high in Austin is in the mid-70s with the lows in the mid-50s. We recommend bringing a light sweater or jacket as meeting rooms tend to be chilly.
  • Please email peopleconnect@powerschool.com with your full name, organization name, dates of your stay at the Westin Austin Downtown and your dietary needs or allergies. We’ll do everything we can to help you out.
  • To ensure a welcoming environment for all PeopleConnect attendees, a dedicated mother’s nursing room will be available at the Westin Austin Downtown.
  • Your conference badge and nametag are your ticket. They’ll get you into the events you’re registered to attend. You must wear your badge at all times.
  • If you lose your badge, go the registration desk and we’ll get you a new conference badge. You will be charged $100 for the replacement badge.
